Randi,

Everything about you is so vibrant and confident. Your personality is fire, fire, fire! You exude so much light. For the first few years of our friendship, I thought you were fearless. In my head, you were the take charge “This is what we are going to do” woman. My perception of you changed the night that I met “Shy Randi”.  

You planned a party for our friend, Lisa, who was turning 40, and a few other friends who had birthdays coming up. In usual Randi style, you planned everything! You organized the limo ride, dinner, and then karaoke at our favorite spot, the Meeting Place. We planned an after-party at my place. The after party was for cocktails, music, and a special surprise guest, a stripper for the birthday girl. When announced to the group that a stripper was about to show up by bringing out the “special cake” you had made; the ladies lost their minds. The ladies started getting ready for our special guest (LOL). The stripper shows up and he looks like he is a freshman in college. You said “OMG, he’s somebody’s son!”

When the stripper started the music and his routine, most of the ladies lost their damn minds. You and I were in total shock at the shenanigans going on. We didn’t know what to do. We watched and then things got really bad. I’m getting nervous and I look around for you to help me do something. I can’t find you anywhere! I start walking up the steps and found you sitting at the top of the steps with your head between your legs looking lost and distressed. You looked up at me with the face of a 5-year-old shaking your head and said several times “I don’t know what to do.” What? Huh? I didn’t know who you were. You were so shy! I’m looking for you to take charge of this situation (as you usually do) and you are now Shy Randi. I knew I couldn’t handle that situation by myself and Shy Randi was not about to go down there and get in it. We stayed upstairs and hid out in my bedroom until the craziness stopped (at about 5 am).

I have seen Shy Randi quite a few times after that, and she still amazes me!! 😎
